What the calculator is checking
This calculator uses the common flat-rate car-loan style and checks the requested loan against the main Singapore motor-vehicle financing limits for loans granted by financial institutions. It is an estimate, not loan approval.
If the vehicle OMV is $20,000 or below, the maximum regulated loan is 70% of the car price. If the OMV is above $20,000, the maximum regulated loan is 60% of the car price.
Motor-vehicle loan tenure is capped at 7 years. For new cars, the calculator lets you enter years. For used cars, it lets you enter months so you can match the remaining usable period more precisely.
The rules checked here are for financial-institution motor loans. Dealer financing, lease-to-own schemes, or other alternative arrangements may not be regulated the same way.
